HOMELESSNESS:
THE SILENT KILLER
Shocking research has revealed that homeless people die thirty years before the national average. The average life expectancy for a homeless man is 47, and for a woman 43.
Causes of death amongst the homeless population differ from amongst the wider population, with a far higher incidence of fatalities through road traffic accidents, drug and alcohol misuse, infections, falls and suicides.
The research was carried out for Crisis by the University of Sheffield.
